I will not quit. I will not stop. I will not yield. I will not lay down

I will not quit.  I will not stop. I will not yield.  I will not lay down.  I am the son of Alfred and Joyce Hornbeck and they raised me right and neither of them were quitters!!!   My parents were strong, hard workers who's work ethic was unparalleled.    I have seen my fathers hands bleed from blister while clearing brush to make extra money and I have dressed  and wrapped the ulcers on my mothers legs before she headed out for an 8 hour shift on a concrete floor and neither one of those great people ever quit.
I must meditate on Romans 12:12 "Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on."=NLT
and my favorite Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to".

I am facing now some of my biggest challenge. Due to unexpected events and a large chunk due to the state of the economy my funds are low.   So low, that the past several days I have eaten peanut butter and bread.  Thankfully my sister was gracious and sent 2 loaves home with them from trip to see her this past weekend.   I am past due on the power bill, I am past due on the rent, and today  my car stopping running and started spurting oil like a Texas gusher all over the engine.  Thankful I have my AAA membership which I have maintained for many years and it always give me a great return on my investment.   So, my car has been towed.  I am home.  I am writing.  I am not quitting.

Today's events have really put into perspective how one can become homeless.  This is such a close reality to me.   You think you are working hard and that the more you work the more financially things will improve however outside, unexpected factors throw you for a loop.

I am completely kicking ass (not trying to brag) in my career.  Every day I stand behind that chair I see improvement in everything I am doing....sectioning, finger placement, application, blow dry. and of course backcomb.    I had a lady come in from out of town for a shampoo flatiron style today and  she was mature, in her retirement however she was young in spirit.  She requested her hair be straight with no wave and no bump on the ends.  I knew when she told me no bump on the ends I had a good one in the chair.  I pulled out "Ole Blue"  my favorite Babyliss flatiron and did as she requested then proceed to combine some Aveda Air Control hairspray with my backcombing skills and took this fashionable lady to fabulous. In just 1 hour I restyled her hair to make her look 10 years younger!  She loved it.  I loved it.  This is why I love doing it.   I finally have a career that I think is a career.

Finally,  I need to make my life work for my career.  The last thing I must do is something I have been doing.  PRAY.  Please pray for me.  Strength, Wisdom, and Ability.    Also, pray that Ameren UE won't shut my power off...Since I make $203.00 dollars a year more than the cut off for assistance....yep that's like $20.00 a month.
